NGLCC National Business & Leadership Conference(Fort Lauderdale, FL) – The NGLCC conference is the largest LGBT business development event each year and brings together more than 900 LGBT and allied entrepreneurs, business owners, corporate representatives, and LGBT chamber leaders from across the country and around the globe.

Attendees take part in three days of symposia, panel discussions, development seminars, and special events designed to generate business opportunities and build strong relationships with corporate champions and one another.

Trans* visibility in the media is at an all-time high but the movement for trans* equality at work and in society is still evolving.  While numerous companies provide health benefits for their trans* employees, many do not and those that do may have gaps in coverage.  As health reform sweeps the nation and companies look to support a diversified workforce, we must engage in frank conversations about the levers employers have to drive equitable change. For companies encouraging their talent to purchase insurance on the Marketplace, there are a new set of issues arising around access to care, benefit coverage and the need to educate the care community. Learn about the nuances and what you can do to support trans* health care.

Using Gamification to Advance Diversity and Inclusion Education in the Corporate Enterprise
While we know that diversity and inclusion (D&I) can help foster innovation, when was the last time innovation elevated D&I, especially when it comes to its meaningful implementation across the [corporate] enterprise? That time is now. Find out how leading companies are using gamification and advanced adult learning principles to bring D&I content to life and create meaningful organizational change. This dynamic session will take participants through the challenges and opportunities of disseminating D&I content throughout the enterprise (told by corporate leaders themselves) and showcase how CONTINEOTM , a new game-based D&I experience, is one example of how innovative thinking can help address some of those challenges through fun and interactive discussion that includes: Unconscious bias & assumptions, definitions and implications of D&I in the workplace, the business case for D&I, and topic-specific awareness (LGBT, disability, veterans, etc. This session includes LIVE game play so participants can experience firsthand the impact (and healthy competition) of people driven, game-based D&I education.

Financial Services Roundtable for Supplier Diversity (FSRSD)
Moderated by a FSRSD member, a panel of FSRSD members will share information on the FSRSD including our mandate, our membership makeup (i.e. the range of financial services), trends from a recent benchmark study. We would also highlight a number of the special programs FSRSD members offer such as mentorship opportunities.

When it comes to customer service industries, competition is fierce. There is always another sale, another offer to pull customers away. Businesses can only create customer or client loyalty when they set themselves apart, and that mean delivering more than just top-notch customer service – it means delivering an exceptional customer experience. In this presentation, James Kuester of Küster Design will share proven strategies for a stellar customer experience. He will walk you through common client touch points, and how they combine to create an overall customer-centered system – and look at best-practices for designing each element of the customer experience, including the location and design of your store or office, phone etiquette and website content, rescheduling and follow-up procedures, and more. This session will highlight the importance LGBT tourism can have on a community, and how local LGBT Chambers of Commerce can work with their members, their tourism industry, and their destination marketing organizations to create value through increased visitation and tourism receipts. LGBT entrepreneurs from three companies will be selected to give their best 15-minute presentations on their company, a new or existing product, market, or other innovation with the purpose of gaining valuable feedback from an expert panel of angel investors, venture capitalists, and other business experts. All participants have the potential to continue their dialogue with the judges, and one winner will be awarded a cash price on stage.
