Unfortunately, discrimination in the workplace against transgender people is still alarmingly common. That’s why the Los Angeles LGBT Center offers services to help transgender women and men develop professional skills, find employment with trans-friendly employers and thrive in the workplace.

  • One-on-one sessions with a client advocate
  • Help setting and achieving career goals
  • Job interview workshops
  • Help crafting a powerful resume
  • Name and gender change and other legal assistance, both employment and non-employment related, including criminal record expungement

The Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Transgender Economic Empowerment Program offers a wide range of services to address the violence and bigotry faced by many transgender people. We also train the staff of corporations, organizations and government agencies to help make workplaces safer and more welcoming for transgender people.

Trying to find employment? We can help you overcome what sometimes may seem like overwhelming obstacles by providing the following services:

  • One-on-one sessions with a client advocate
  • Career development support, including setting goals and examining skill sets to find the best matches
  • Preparing resumes
  • Job interview workshops
  • Mock interviews to improve interview skills
  • Sharing job notices with transgender friendly employers
  • Providing local and national resources for transgender people
  • Assistance with changing your name and gender on legal documents
