We currently have a position open for the getREAL California Project Director. The getREAL Project Director has primary responsibility for developing and delivering all aspects of the project whose primary goal is to integrate sexual orientation and gender identity/expression (SOGIE)-informed policy and practice into California’s child welfare system. The Project Director will lead a multiple-year implementation effort aimed at increasing the competency and capacity of the statewide system in serving lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) and gender non-conforming (GNC) children and youth. The Project Director will develop resources for professionals and families to improve outcomes for LGBT and GNC children and youth in the child welfare system
Oakland CA LGBT Project Director Family Builders by Adoption
Master’s degree in social work, public policy, other human services fields, or equivalent. Thorough knowledge of and experience working with the child welfare system. In-depth understanding of issues facing LGBT and GNC youth in out-of-home care. Knowledge of issues related to racial disparities within child-serving public systems. Excellent writing and public speaking skills. This position requires air travel as well as the use of own vehicle for local travel. Must be committed to the mission of Family Builders.
