The LGBT Network (The Network) is seeking an experienced Director of Programs to manage and lead a program department staff of fifteen employees. The Director of Programs will develop new programs; track and evaluate existing programming; assist with the securing of funding to support diverse program initiatives and supervise four mid-level management staff. This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) or his designee and is responsible for:

Director of Programs LGBT Network
The Director of Programs is primarily responsible for the daily management and oversight of all LGBT Network programs and services. Specifics include:

  • Oversee the day-to-day program operations of the LGBT Network serving the LGBT community across the lifespan including all social, support, empowerment, education, and advocacy programs
  • Supervise and lead four program managers and provide ongoing support, guidance and performance management
  • Oversee and support the development and evaluation of all new and existing programs
  • Plan and prioritize goals to increase program utilization and determine impact of current services
  • Assist with grant proposals for funding from foundations and government sources
  • Coordinate and monitor all program reporting, grant reporting, and evaluation activities
  • Responsible for the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all programming
  • Responsible for clear interface between program staff and COO
  • Work with Human Resources on the hiring, orientation and training of all program staff 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Business Administration or other related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supervising staff and leading a unit or department
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to provide leadership and vision in program development
  • Experience working with and a commitment to and knowledge of LGBT communities
  • Experience supervising and managing a diverse staff and multiple employees
  • Exceptional organizational skills for handling multiple tasks/responsibilities at once in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with a wide range of people
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with group facilitation, community collaboration and being a strategic thinker
  • Must be sensitive to issues of diversity, including race, class, gender, sexual orientation and gender identity, etc.
  • Some nights and weekends required
  • Driver’s license and reliable transportation, as this position requires driving throughout counties
